Peer Review Process

Overview

Biocentra: Journal of Medical and Health Sciences implements a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure that every published article meets high standards of scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, and ethical integrity. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Each submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment before being assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. Reviewer recommendations assist the Editorial Board in making fair, objective, and evidence-based publication decisions.

Peer Review Workflow

01. Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the Biocentra online submission system. The Editorial Office performs an initial administrative check.
02. Editorial Screening

Editors evaluate the manuscript's scope, originality, formatting, ethical compliance, and scientific relevance before peer review.
03. Double-Blind Review

Two or more expert reviewers independently evaluate the manuscript's methodology, novelty, validity, and scientific contribution.
04. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor decides whether the manuscript is accepted, revised, or rejected.

Review Decision Categories

  • Accept — The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision or only minor editorial corrections.
  • Minor Revision — Authors are requested to address minor reviewer comments before acceptance.
  • Major Revision — Substantial revisions are required and the revised manuscript may undergo another round of peer review.
  • Reject — The manuscript does not meet the journal's scientific, methodological, or editorial standards.

Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following aspects:

  • Originality and novelty of the research.
  • Scientific validity and methodological quality.
  • Clinical or public health relevance.
  • Organization, clarity, and quality of writing.
  • Adequacy of references and literature review.
  • Contribution to medical and health sciences.
  • Compliance with research and publication ethics.

Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct

Reviewers are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts. Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed to the Editor before accepting a review invitation. Reviewer comments should be objective, constructive, and aimed at improving the scientific quality of the manuscript.
